The Thought is a 25-year old MC, singer, producer and engineer from Pasadena, California. As well as his solo endeavours, he's also a member of the conscious hiphop collective BLAQKNOIZ. He's just dropped a new album titled I Thought You Loved Me, a collection of 16 jazz-inspired, soulful hip-hop tracks. 'AMBERWOOD' is the 7th track in, it opens with gentle electric piano runs and The Thought's blues-tinged vocals, over a chilled beat. His rap is captivating, and tells the story of his mother's cancer diagnosis - the fear of her death, being left with his sexually abusive dad, and how his brother denied that their father was a rapist.
